Dumaguete | Don Roberto's Bar and Restaurant

Dumaguete | Don Roberto's Bar and Restaurant
Don Roberto's Special House Pizza

I have known Don Roberto's all my life. Before, it was still called Rosante's Bar and Restaurant from the two friends, Robert and Sante, who started the business.  The place was restored after the fire last Jan 2007 and changed its name to Don Roberto's Bar and Restaurant.

Why You Should Shoot RAW? (RAW vs JPEG)

As an amateur enthusiast in photography, I try and try so many things that would make a picture look great and all. I have read and searched for tips online of the different techniques and methodologies most photographers use, some of them I've considered while others I've ignored. One of the basic tips given online is shooting RAW which I have constantly ignored mainly because the data storage for that format is way bigger than JPG. Now, after traveling for more than a year, it came to a point that I wanna try to shoot and compare the difference between the two, RAW and JPG. And it was a Saturday of October this year in Ortigas' Business District that my experimentation came true. After a little tweaking with clarity, saturation and vibrance at the same levels with the two formats, I came to realize how my stubbornness had cost the quality my pictures for the different destinations for the past few years. I realized how RAW format, especially in scapes, is very much useful which you can see for yourself.

These photos were taken at round 9pm:

RAW Format
27mm, 84 sec @ f/22 ISO 640

Jimmy's Satti Haus, Zamboanga

When traveling, cuisines are one of the many things I do not wanna miss to try. Since Philippines is an archipelago, one of the many regional differences are the cuisine from the different parts of the country.

Zamboanga is also known for having four barter shops in the city where you can find goods at a much cheaper price because their goods are tax-free. One of the four barter shops we've visited is the one located in Canelar.

Zamboanga | Curacha at Alvar Seafood Restaurant

It was the third day of our stay in the Asia's Latin City. We woke up late because we're dread tired from our beach bumming at The Great Sta Cruz Island the day before.

Photograph | My Very First Lightning Shot

Lightning Shot

This newly installed braces of mine often makes me hungry at night for I can't seem to get full with these soft diet thing. Hence, I went to the store in Sagana and bought some food that does not need much chewing. It was drizzling when I went out and as I was walking, I noticed the scattered lightning against the dark night. I told myself that this might be the right time to try my very first lightning shot. But my stomach growled at the thought.

Zamboanga | What To Do in Sta. Cruz Island

It was around 10 in the morning when we arrived at the island. It was actually an hour later than our ETA. Prior to reaching the island, I wasn’t really expecting that much. I just planned to chill and unwind on the beach. The  Great Island of Sta. Cruz  took me by surprise. From the calm sea to its azure-turquoise-ic waters--and who'd forget its white sand with a tinge of pink from a certain kind of coral species found there. It was the kind of surprise and escape I needed from the swamped workload I had to face during the past weeks which resulted to several cancelled trips. It was the end of March of 2012, so it's definitely a trip worth the wait!

Photograph | The City of Gentle People in Blue

Went back to my home town last August in time of Silliman University's Founders Week Celebration and  my birthday which happens to be Silliman's Founders Day. It is totally hard to plan anything out of town when you're actually home because the laid back charm of Dumaguete is very inviting. So, I wasn't able to go to places or towns near Dumaguete and will update my blog soon. Soon. *winks*
