Big Hotel Cebu

 

Back to the place that we Visayan’s call ‘Dakbayan sa Sugbu’ which simply means the Cebu City is simply like a home closer to ‘home’ for me. After all, it is just one bus ride from Dumaguete, my home town, and where most of my friends are exploring careers and such after graduation.

It has been 6 months since my last Cebu trip and there is this solace I feel, which is refreshing at the same time, set foot in a place where everybody speaks Cebuano, my mother tongue, and just simply be in a place where I do believe, in my roots, that I really belong.

So finding the perfect comfort in the city for my little time of exploration before I head back to my home town one of the curious little detail that I often seek to look forward. I happened to see this new hotel named Big Hotel Cebu.

It is one of the newest budget-friendly there is in Metro Cebu which has soft opened last Sinulog 2016. It is one of the few hotels in our country that has focuses an industrial-designed architecture. And is located in the vibrant city of Mandaue, Cebu, Philippines.

Big Hotel is strategically located across Parkmall, Mandaue and Cebu International Convention Center, and is just beside the City Time Square. It is within very close proximity to commercial establishments, recreation centers, universities, hospitals, public transportation, and north bound bus terminal providing utmost convenience to both leisure and business travelers alike.

Our room, just like the overall hotel design, is unique, chic, and industrial home-like which is refreshing especially the little details that make it grand like the wooden desk, chandelier and posh lounge sofa. It is cozy and, by day, floods the room with natural light which I very like. Each bed is framed with individually drawn illustrations by Angelito Marsan depicting scenes derived from the Old and New Testaments.

They also have an art gallery which features artists in Cebu from time to time and event/meeting halls for private events and conferences. My most favorite of all, apart from our room, is their Big Kitchen and Bar, where breakfast buffet is held at. But more to the morning indulgence is their rustic design and old-school elements intertwined with contemporary dishes which they offer all day long. One detail that stands out for me is their massive table made from our very own Mindanao Narra. I love the fact that this place is supporting local all the way!

Big Hotel’s exact address is Park Mall Dr, Mandaue City, Cebu.  It is approximately 20 minutes by car from Mactan-Cebu Internation Airport, 10 minutes from the seaport, and 30 minutes to some of the famous tourist destination of Cebu City.
