Several minutes after we started our ascend, via jeepney, from Baguio City going to the jump-off point to Mount Pulag, I was crazily vomiting because I immediately got dizzy, thanks to seemingly endless zigzag road en route.

Have you dreamed of seeing the vast sea of clouds in Mt Pulag? Well, I sure have and it was one of my most rewarding climb to date. The trail we've taken was Ambangeg-Ambangeg with a moderate degree of difficulty. So, I am sharing the essential things to note when climbing the third highest peak in our country and the highest in Luzon, also known as the "abode of the gods," situated at 9,587 feet above sea level. Pulag photostory also found here.

I've been to Baguio a few times last year. Someone asked me why I keep going back and, at first, I was taken aback to that question. But in retrospect, I think that the city gives me this feeling of serenity. It is a place whispering of tales and secrets more than one could ever imagine. And it constantly surprises me of what it has to offer which seems to be its romantic gesture.

Baguio | Carlo's Pizza

Spaghetti at Carlo's Pizza
Baguio City

It was the last Sunday, our second day during our trip, of January this year when I went to  Baguio for the first time. We bought tickets going back to Manila to reserve our seats and less hassle. It was drizzling when we decided to take our lunch at around 1:00 pm.  We went to SM Mall and decided to try Carlo's Pizza just near to where there is a view of  Baguio City. I am quite sad because most probably my planned itinerary would not be followed but I immediately recovered as I refocused on the food served to us. Haha

Baguio | Baguio Cathedral, Laperal White House and Melvin Jones Grand Stand

Klook.com

Before going to Burnham Park, we passed through the infamous Laperal White House in Baguio,  made a wish because it is my first time at the Baguio Cathedral, and tried to take a jump shot photo at the Melvin Jones Grand Stand but failed!

Laperal White House in Baguio

This old laperal white house in Baguio is rumored to be haunted according to our taxi driver. So I went down from the taxi and took a shot. Located at Leonard Wood Road, the place was built in 1920s and owned by the Laperal Family, one of the oldest clan in Baguio, 'til the family got brutally murdered during the height of World War II or Japanese occupation in the Philippines. What do you think? It looks normal here but creepy in real life. I swear.

Baguio City's Mines View Park
Mines View Park is one of the most popular and most visited park in the city of Baguio. It contains the breathtaking view of Benguet's gold and copper mines and the mountains that you can see from the deck. We immediately went here after visiting The Mansion (right across the Wright Park) via taxi again. Fare costs around 40 pesos.

Baguio | Sunset 'til Night

Klook.com

After going to Baguio Botanical Garden when  the rain poured down so hard, we decided to stay at the mall and wait for our late night trip. We weren't able to go to the other places we wanted to visit so, we just did what is normally done when people are bored --- we took pictures from sunset until night! :)

Well, whenever I see a flower I can't resist taking a picture of it even with my mobile phone orany available camera I have.  In fact, when I was in high school, I started making my own trademark of a flower together with ejlsquared as a girlish signature. So when we visited the Botanical Garden in Baguio, together with my work mates, the more that I wasn't able to resist to take loads of pictures with nothing but flowers. My friends who were with me were also influenced by such and took shots through their android phones.

Baguio: Stroll in the City and The Mansion

Klook.com

After late dining at 50's Diner, we directly strolled to SM Baguio to buy some things before heading off to our first stop, The Mansion.

While strolling, we passed through the different caricatures/statues at Barrio's Fiesta that depicts different stories including the Igorot.

Igorot is the collective name of several Austronesian ethnic groups from the Cordillera, Northern Luzon, Philippines. The word "Igorot" is archaic Tagalog for "mountain people". It is derived from the prefix i- ("dweller of") and golot ("mountain range"). The word has been variously spelled during the Spanish colonial era as Igolot, Ygolot, and Igorrote. The names Ifugao or Ipugao (also meaning "mountain people") are used more frequently within the Igorots themselves. (Taken from wikipedia)

We hailed a taxi going to the place from SM Baguio to The Mansion which costs around 40 pesos. And of course, pictorial in the place followed.

The Mansion is the official summer residence of the President of the Philippines. It is located on the eastern part of the city along C.P. Romulo Drive (formerly a part of Leonard Wood Road) and right across from Wright Park. The Mansion is older than the city itself, and easily one of the most visited and photographed landmarks of the City of Pines. (Taken from gobaguio)

How to go to Baguio and 50's Diner

Klook.com

One of the longest bus rides that I've ever experienced is this trip to Baguio. Well, I am not fond of air conditioned bus and its motion sickness effect to me but I was pretty happy that I was not affected during that trip because I slept most of the time. Thanks to the head wear that I borrowed from my friend. I bought one after that trip having known its usefulness to me! :)

Upon arriving at Baguio we checked in to our place near the Victory Liner Terminal and directly went to this 50's Diner because we were famished when we arrived at around 12:30 pm. The diner is located at 92 Upper General Luna Road, Corner Brent Road, Baguio City, Baguio City, Philippines. We hailed a taxi because it was the easiest way to get there which costs around 40 pesos. I pretty much love the vibe of the place especially because of the pink lights, the 50's feel that you can get from the different framed pictures of celebrities or events during that time, the waitresses in their cute pink uniforms and the red hot sizzling car right outside the diner.

We enjoyed our food that is pretty much in large servings and is very helpful since I was trying to regain my energy for my first tour in Baguio City!

Visiting Baguio's popular tourist places can leave you dread tired at the end of the day. That is why a great accommodation in the city is a treat for yourself that you can never go wrong.

One of the finest, grandeur and contemporary places you can find in the city is the Azalea Residences. The name Azalea is taken from a flowering shrub that is commonly found in Baguio and in fact, found right at their entrance.

Jan 2012

My co-workers who were with me during my Baguio trip were already fed up by me mentioning about Blue Hour. (Haha) I couldn't blame them coz I was really that insistent. But I couldn't blame myself either. Because whenever I shoot at this beautiful hour of the day (especially to a new place), my soul seems to feel like re-ignited with inspiration and awe. :)
