Seoul, South Korea Itinerary with KKDay

Seoul City, South Korea Itinerary

My long overdue trip to South Korea was finally realized during my birthday week last August and I couldn't be more happier. I already got my visa last 2017 (thanks to the BPI credit card promo) and I have been meaning to use it before it expires next year. Moreover, in college which was (unbelievably) almost ten years ago, I was a Math tutor to numerous Korean students in Dumaguete and some of them are back in South Korea so a mini-reunion was bound to happen. And on top of all of that, I was a KDrama fan since high school (2003) so I have everything planned out for this solo trip!

Day 8

AREX Incheon Airport Express Train
Departure

*Ensure that your travel arrival including estimated delay would be before 1130pm. Otherwise, opt to ride a bus instead like what I did since I arrived past midnight.
**Places are very near Gyeongbok-gung Palace either start or end at the palace through walking.
***Recommend to do this on the first few days to familiarize the city. On my part, it was my one last look of Seoul before leaving.

Where to stay in Seoul, South Korea?

There are so main areas you could stay in Seoul, but I highly suggest ones that are around Hongdae, Myeongdong, and Dongdaemun. Why? Because most of the tours pickup and drop-off are at the train stations near these areas. I opted one in Hongdae near Hongik University train station.

What tours do you recommend in Seoul, South Korea?

Basically everything in my itinerary was very much worth doing or trying but if you have limited time in Seoul, then I suggest to focus between my first few days instead. Also, booked these tours with KKDay.

What are the other places to see in or nearby Seoul, South Korea?

Despite loads of stories and photos, they are loads of areas I have missed, aside from those mentioned in my itinerary, because wanted to rest as much as I can. You especially don't want to get sick during your travels. So I did forego these sites and noted them when I come back in the near future:

What are the dishes you must try in Seoul, South Korea?

Having taught some Korean before in my hometown and the many Korean restaurants in Metro Manila, I have probably tried it all but it was fun to really look for their authentic food and the places I have only watched on TV. So when I am not in the tour, these are what I have randomly tried from mains to desserts mostly suggested by my former students in Korea:  (photos to follow)
-dumplings, noodle soup with dumplings, spicy noodles at Myeongdong Street
-chillsing cider, corn soju, classic soju, platter of various fried selection from egg/meat/veggies at Hongdae Street
-wanton with sides and rice at Hongdae
-mango bingsu at Paris Baguette near Changdeokgung Palace
-unlimited shabu shabu near Ansan Starlight Village
-coffee bingsu near Dongdaemun
-korean bibimbap with raw beef, sides and egg soup at Hongdae

Actually even random street food and varieties from the convenience stores are really surprisingly good, though I am not able to read anything from the package. 😅

What are the food places in Seoul, South Korea?

Loads of places for food trip in Korea, it's like designed for you to eat and adore their cute cafes. But I highly recommend the food and market at Hongdae and Myeongdong. And looking for parties? Try Itaewon.
