My 10-day Australian trip is coming to an end. And what more could one do to pamper oneself after days and days of city walks, coastal tours, and mini-hikes? A city staycation, of course!

Abode on my last few days in the most artsy and dynamic city in Australia is the fascinating boutique hotel one could find in Melbourne – Aldephi Hotel. The place, having an ideal location, is just a stone’s throw away from the famous tourist spots in Melbourne, namely Flinders Lane, Flinder’s Station and the grand St Paul’s Cathedral. By fascinating, I mean that it is not only located strategically at the heart of the city, but each door offers a unique and refreshing experience to their guests having a total of 34 lavish rooms and suites of minimalist, modern and vibrant style.

“Engage your senses… enjoy the sensation of escape. Lose yourself in luxury, in texture. Absorb the soft sounds, the whispers, laughter and music… Settle in for the sweetest dreams.” The words echoing from Adelphi is immediately evident upon entering their striking and intimate lobby. You will be welcomed with taste of dark sophistication and an artsy vibe of the hotel that translates all throughout their building. They have their life-sized rustic painting of Lucy which is probably their most-photographed wall to date, their own iconic Neville which is a handsome stud horse art installation, swinging couches, candles, and the little details covering all through their dining area, Om Nom Kitchen, from the lobby which are just pleasing to the eyes and senses.

My room is a refreshing 35-square-meter Comfy King effectively designed to emphasize space with contemporary and elegant details. Every comfort is truly met for they have a lounging area providing ample light and overlooking Flinder’s Lane, writing desk with additional power points for your gadgets, an iHome docking station or radio alarm clock with universal connections for all audio devices, 40-inc flat-screen LED Smart TV, Espresso coffee machine, choices of T-Bar tea, well-ventilated bathroom, walk-in shower and Appelles bathroom treats, modern LED strip lighting. And as if those aren’t enough to make me stay inside all day, they got an in-room entertainment system with various selections unlimited movies of your liking plus a range of delicious sweet and savory snacks and refreshments on the house! And oh, their cutely written welcome message by the mirror from a lipstick is a very unique, girly and lovely touch!

Their roof deck area is a lively and tropical-inspired space with their rooftop heated pool (at 25 degrees) with a cantilevered glass bottom (extended two meters beyond the building’s periphery, hovering Flinder’s Lane) perfect for unwind and relax. 

The boutique hotel is small but definitely only in size for it has grabbed some big awards through the years and even named as the most awarded boutique hotel. Some awards are namely 2018 Victorian Boutique Style Accommodation of the Year Award by Tourism Accommodation Australia and AHA Vic for the fourth time in the past 5 years.

Moreover, I salute the hotel’s innovative initiatives that it has undertaken for environmental sustainability. Some of which namely, implementing an energy-efficient lighting throughout the hotel, installing water-reducing showerheads and aerators, and the like. How cool is that? For me, with the kind of service and people during my stay, they are totally worthy of the award. I always say that people I interact with makes your trips worthwhile and I found the most accommodating ones at Adelphi.

Apart from the aforementioned Om Nom Kitchen, they also have a Mon Bijou event space and the award winning Ezard restaurant located in the basement of the hotel.
