Ho Chi Minh | Opera (Park Hyatt Saigon)

I went to Vietnam for the first time and my travel/foodie enthusiast friends did not want to miss one of the sought-after breakfast buffets in the city – Park Hyatt Saigon’s Opera Restaurant.

We all know Park Hyatt’s world-renowned brand for luxury and comfort but to have an exceptional dining place under their roof is one of the perks staying at the hotel.

Opera’s name may have come from the fact that it overlooks Lam Son Square and the Opera House. A popular all-day dining inspired by Italian and Vietnamese cuisines.

Their breakfast buffet is a selection of continental-style of cuisines. Of course, many of which are Vietnamese specialties including the country’s well-known traditional noodle soup, “Pho.”

We decided to try it on our second day in the city during a Sunday, indeed their vast selection of different various Vietnamese offerings are on spot as well as other cuisines available. I tried almost every selection, most especially the pastries and desserts. Good thing we are a group with a big appetite!

If you also want something that is freshly made, they also have ala carte menu which has Italian selection as well. For this we tried their eggs benedict, pho, and ban mih. Especially loved their pho and ban mih’s crispy on the outside but meaty, delectable and soft on the inside. They have a similar coconut drink in Vietnam which tastes very similar to what we have in the Philippines but shaped differently.

What I love most about this place, aside from their food, is the feel and ambiance which is perfect for casual meet-ups with friends or fine dining for business purposes which is strategically located at the heart of Ho Chi Minh City.

They also have dinner lunch and dinner offerings which is a collection of Italian specialties such as their wood-fired oven gourmet pizzas, pastas, salads and hearty sandwiches prepared home-made style in the open-kitchen setting.
