5th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition: Opening Exhibition and Australia

 

The six-week-long Philippine International Pyromusical Competition has once again come and started last weekend. It will be the fifth year of this annual event and celebration to bring colorful night display and music at the SM MOA by the Bay. This spectacular event is organized and co-produced by our very own, Platinum Fireworks, Inc from the Philippines.

I went to MOA as early as 4:30pm not just to avoid the expected traffic but also to the watch the lovely sunset by the bay 'til world is basked in blue and darkness.  And wait for the fireworks display that will start at 7:00pm. I was once again excited to watch this event because I last went there in 2012 and missed last year's.

Anticipation starts to build when the national anthem of our country was sung before the Opening Exhibition starts showcased by our very own Philippines - Platinum Fireworks, Inc.  The opening number is actually a  post-valentine's show entitled, "Love is in the air!"

Platinum Fireworks, Inc has won prestigious competitions such as People's Choice Award at the 2011 Global Fest Pyromusical Competition in Calgary, Canada, and The Best Show and Zeus Trophy in last year's Les Grand Feux Du Casino du Lac-leamy (Sound of lights) in Gattineau, Ottawa, Canada.

Indeed, the Philippines has captured the masses with their popular love songs in synced with the beautiful display including heart shaped fireworks and birds flying which eventually gives off a trail of fireworks minutes later.

There was a pause of the night display after the opening exhibition 'til they called the first competitor for this annual event, Howards and Sons Fireworks of Australia. Their lights and music show is a mythical day-today journey of an Australian Billabong entitled, "Billabong Dreaming."

Howards and Sons Fireworks have been in the industry since 1922 and has numerous performances including the opening and closing of The Sea Games in Jakarta, Indonesia; Fourth of July Celebrations in Utah, USA; 100 years of Kingdom Ceremony in Medina, Saudi, Arabia. They also supplied the fireworks in Disneyland and Disneyworld, which are both dubbed as the happiest place on earth.

The night show of lights and music may have ended but it is just the beginning of the six-week-long competition and dazzling fireworks.

Competition has started last weekend with Australia as the first. Other competitors for this year's exciting event in the Metro are as follows: Spain, United Kingdom, France, Japan, China, Germany, Finland, Canada and the United States of America. The Philippines also showcased our very own spectacular display during the opening last week and, again, on the closing day, March 22.
