It was the third day of our stay in the Asia's Latin City. We woke up late because we're dread tired from our beach bumming at The Great Sta Cruz Island the day before.

 The famous Curacha

That's why we decided to satisfy our stomachs that day with another popular dish in Zamboanga --- curacha. One of the places where the famous "curacha" is served is at Alavar Seafood Restaurant.

"Curacha"  is a Chavacano's local dish for a spanner crab or red frog crab species. These kind of crab, cross breed characteristics of a large crab and a big lobster, is known to be uniquely found in the deep waters of Zamboanga.  It is usually steamed or boiled so its flavor is preserved.

However, in Alvar's Seafood Restaurant, they have a distinct kind of sauce matched with this delicious large crab which has more meat in its body! And I must tell you, remembering this cuisine is very much mouth watering.

It's quite pricey, good thing I have my friends who'll share the bill with me, but definitely a must try when you visit Zamboanga.

Oopsy. Guess you know what happened to those crabs :)

The name "Curacha" is close to "Cucaracha" which is the spanish term for cockroach. (pokerface) :)
