Rizal | Timberland Adventure Park

October was the long-awaited month for my close friends and I because someone just came home from a 5-month South-East Asia backpacking trip. I am glad that I was the one who insisted to join an outdoor activity as a reunion – Blogger Camp. And that is the prelude of an epic weekend at Timberland Adventure Park.

We jumped off with fellow bloggers at Trinoma going to Rizal via Timberland’s van. This can be arranged if you have a booked group tour reservation. Or you may do so via private vehicles. The travel was shorter than anticipated because most of the time we were catching up with some old faces and getting to know new faces as well.

Raining as it may have been, when we arrived in Adventure Park, our spirits were high. Looking back, maybe our spirits were too high, the rain calmed down for the rest of the weekend.

The Adventure Farm tour started after leaving our backpacks at the admin office and the tour registration. It then started on the very first stop, Fish Fenzy, which is a mini lagoon where kids can fish. On the other side of it is the ducks haven in a vegetated lagoon. Next is the Butterfly Buddies are, where the farm breeds and develop various kinds of butterflies that is informative for children’s metamorphosis lesson. The Herb Terraces features different herbs such as basil, rosemary, and the like. The fun Veggie Valley is where organic vegetables such as eggplant, tomato, okra, etc are found, one can actually teach kids to plant or harvest in this section. Green House is where you could plant or harvest more greens and may more leafies. Chicken Chums is one of the most fun section where you can play or feed chickens, we found a duck among the flock of chickens maybe thinking it is part of the group. In the Worm World is where they culture African night crawler earthworms used in production of compost. Their Hilltop Haven is a perfect nature meditation spot on an open hilltop overlooking one of the Adventure Playground’s obstacle station. Other remaining spots is the Tree Troop, Rain Garden, Crops Crescent, Citrus Groves, Piggy Pen, Goat and Gallop. The whole farm tour can be booked with a guided (Php 150) or non-guided (Php 50) one.

Before the much-anticipated Adventure Playground, we had a lunch break near to our camp site. Our hillside camp site was an overwhelmingly beautiful open area with the vast view of Metro Manila. Lunch was served with Filipino cuisine wrapped in banana leaf for chicken adobo and bangus, salad, fruits, vegetables, and the highlight – lechon! It was a pig out before our match with Team Timberland.

The time to face the obstacle courses came. Their Adventure Playground has a total of 10 stations namely tire relay, wet station, mud relay, wall climb 3ft, wall climb 5 ft, hill up #1, hill down, hill up #2, military crawl, and balance logs. Since it rained early that morning, the soil was expectedly soft and muddy which added to the challenge during the traverse and fun at the same time. My slippers, yeah forgot to bring my shoes, gave up on me on the trail. Haha Well, Team Bloggers may have not won against Team Timberland but it was so much fun we could do it again…on the next day, perhaps!

We ate some snacks and proceeded to shower. Few minutes of rest before our set-up for the Bloggers Camp, our home for the night. We were taught how to set up our tents by instructors at Timberland Adventure Park. I now have an ideal tent in mind because the yellow one is easier to set-up than the typical blue kind of tent.

After the boodle fight dinner near our camp, we had some socials and camp fire, with heated mallows of course. I was very excited to hopefully see the stars but it was cloudy so we still tried to capture the lovely city lights. My co-bloggers were very much fun to be with, what started as small talks and socials from dinner ended up with creating a seemingly dance area in the middle of the tent area. Because we were kidding around and the competitiveness started when the casual dancing became a stop-dance challenge. What a night to remember and imagine we only have organic lemon grass tea with sago and gulaman as our companion.

Adventure Farm for me is a great venue for family bonding because the farm offers different sections which is good for learning and hands-on farming experience especially to children. For adventurous family or friends bonding, or workmate team-building, their adventure playground is the highlight one must avail. A healthy outdoor competition with few bumps and mud slides made the whole experience fun and memorable. Just be careful with some itchy caterpillar sting though. Out of our group, I was the only lucky victim though. Haha

Other events that they cater, aside from family farm tours or workmate team building, are school tours, birthdays, pre-nup, reunions, and camping. Activities such as biking, falls trekking , bird watching, fishing, tree planting are also possible.
