The Circle Hostel La Union | Girls Quarter
Girls' Quarter
I've never been to La Union and never experienced being in a hostel before. So, I was excited to try these two firsts with a group of travel bloggers last June 1 at San Juan, La Union. The weekend's plan is to have a bloggers weekend of games, yoga, food-trip, booze, snorkeling and surfing. Unfortunately, the waves weren't high enough for us to surf during that time. Nevertheless, we were able to do other stuff like star gazing, watching a moon rise, food trip at Urbiztondo Grill House, Kahuna Restaurant and Happy Tummy, and dining with tour at the famous and elegant, Thunderbird Resort.

Arriving at the hostel, we were welcomed with this homey feeling and, at the same time, we seem so close with nature with the open dormitories built with bamboos and nipa huts that has trees seemingly hugging them which made the place cooler even with the day's heat.

We registered right upon arrival and we were provided with blankets and stuff. The open quarters also provide mosquito net with the bed. They have lockers which you can place your important stuff given that you have a padlock in hand. Their comfort rooms were clean and odorless, that was a great plus to me. They have swings too, well, the kid in me finds that very cute. Aside from the quarters they have hammocks left and right. And last but not the least is the common area which was my favorite place to hang because they provide loads of pillows and it's just cozy lying there for hours that I even missed the sunset when I was resting after our snorkeling adventure, and when there was a black out we slept there instead of our quarters because we were scared. Haha So weak.

The common area is also the place were we had our yoga and socials - games.

The staff were friendly. I actually forgot to get my blanket during registration and they attended to my needs right away.

A night's stay at The Circle Hostel is priced at Php 400 per night.

The hostel is located at the National Highway, San Juan, La Union which is near the Urbiztondo Grill you'd see from the highway.

Starry starry night...

I guess what I like most about this trip is that my notion of hostels widen. Before I associate it with old buildings where girls are usually abducted. Haha Yeah, I've seen too many movies. The Circle Hostel La Union was like a friend to me that has accommodated me in a different but beautiful way. I'm so coming back when surfing season returns.
