The Great Sta Cruz Island, also known as Pink Sand Beach, located in Zamboanga in the southern region of the Philippines is popularly known for its white sand beach with a touch of pink coralline from the residues of the red organ pipe coral commonly found in the place. It is the only beach in the Philippines known for its pink sand beach.

HOW TO GET THERE

You have to book a trip to the island through the Department of Tourism in Zamboanga (Mondays - Fridays) located right outside the Lantaka Hotel, Valderrosa St or near Paseo del Mar. The passengers who would like to go the island departs with escorts from the Sta Cruz Ferry Port located inside Paseo del Mar. The boat costs Php 1000 round trip (can accommodate up to 10 passengers), so if you are sharing with friends. you can cut the cost lower.

Fortunately, we were booked ahead of time by our friends Chuck and Almin since we were scheduled to arrive on a Saturday. We also have befriended a group of people and shared the boat with us so instead of 1000 divided by 3 passengers we were able to share it with 9 people. Keep posted for my post about my trip to this island and more about Zamboanga City.

I think it is fine. Basta hindi lang catchy ka sa paningin ng mga tao or turista looking. hehe Much better if you have a friend or local contact there too. :)

I am sure if overnight stay at the island is allowed because they are requiring the escort to be there while you are at the island :)
